Police Engagement Results in Dead Man at Indiana Casino Shooting Incident
In a shocking turn of events, a shootout occurred early Saturday morning at the Hollywood Casino Hotel in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
The incident, which took place around 1am, began when officers confronted a man in the hallway on the property's fourth floor. According to reports, the man opened fire on the police officers, prompting them to return fire.
The man, whose identity remains unknown at this time, was hit at least once during the shootout and later died at the scene.
The Lawrenceburg Police Department officers did not sustain any injuries during the incident. One person at the casino received treatment for minor injuries due to the suspect's attack.
The authorities have not yet released the shootout victim's name.
Prior to the shootout, law enforcement received a call about the man brandishing a gun on the property's fourth floor. It was also reported that the man was chasing a woman around the casino with a knife.
In a related incident, law enforcement tracked down a March robbery suspect in a nearby forest using K-9 dogs, a drone, and a helicopter. In March, a man attempted to rob the cashier cage at the Indiana casino with a gun and took a hostage while trying to escape.
The scene outside the casino was chaotic, with ambulances, police, and fire trucks present. A nearby resident described the scene as being "lit up like the Fourth of July."
