Police from the federal level execute an arrest warrant linked to border control checks on motorway 3 in NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia)
On Tuesday evening, August 26, 2025, two separate incidents involving foreign nationals occurred on the A3 motorway in Germany.
At 22:15, a 44-year-old Lithuanian entered federal territory as a passenger on an international coach. A check of the traveler's personal data in the police databases revealed that he was wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Krefeld with an enforcement warrant for theft. The Lithuanian is currently in the custody of the Federal Police.
However, it's important to note that the Lithuanian arrested during entry into Germany on the night of August 27, 2025, while traveling from Amsterdam to Medyka, is not named in the available search results. Further measures will be coordinated with the Foreigners' Office in Cologne on Wednesday morning.
On a different day and location, at 20:50 on the same August 26, a 21-year-old Romanian was checked by the Federal Police at the Knauheide rest area on the A3 motorway. The traveler, who was the driver of a car registered in Altenkirchen, was found to have an entry and residence ban against him for a period of five years, issued by the Foreigners' Office in Berlin in 2017 and 2022. The Romanian was issued a fine of 300 euros and 100 euros in court costs to the Federal Police.
In addition, the incident involving the Romanian occurred at the Knauheide rest area, while the incident involving the Lithuanian took place elsewhere. The car the Romanian was driving was also registered in Altenkirchen.
It's worth mentioning that there are two ongoing investigations by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Cologne for bodily harm regarding the Romanian. The further measures in this case will be determined accordingly.
The incidents involving these two individuals serve as a reminder of the importance of adhering to immigration and legal guidelines when traveling in and out of Germany.
