Police in Göppingen apprehended two speed demons on Wednesday, who were tearing through a restricted zone at 78 and 84 kilometers per hour.
In the quiet hours of the night, between midnight and 1 AM, the Göppingen police conducted speed checks on Ulm Street, a bustling road in the city of Ulm. Their efforts were not in vain, as two drivers were found to be significantly over the speed limit of 50 km/h.
A BMW driver was clocked at 28 km/h over the limit, while a VW driver was found to be 34 km/h over. As a result, both drivers face penalties for their actions. The VW driver, in particular, faces a hefty fine of at least 260 euros, two points in Flensburg, a one-month driving ban, and other possible consequences. The BMW driver, on the other hand, faces a fine of at least 180 euros and one point.
Speeding is one of the main causes of accidents, and accidents involving excessive speed often result in severe consequences. The police advise: Slow down! Don't overestimate your abilities and account for others' mistakes!
