The patrol unit pursued the Mini, observing the driver's dangerous maneuvers. The driver, a 22-year-old from Leverkusen, suddenly accelerated, changed lanes abruptly, and fled from the police.

The high-speed chase continued until the Wersten exit, where the driver was forced to stop due to road conditions. However, instead of complying with the police's orders, the driver left his vehicle without being told to do so.
