Police officer dissent in Rift Valley region: Farouk Kibet pledges zero tolerance for corruption among law enforcement officers

Police officer corruption in the Rift Valley region will not be tolerated by Farouk Kibet, as stated by Kibet himself.

In a series of public addresses, President William Ruto's personal assistant, Farouk Kibet, and Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Dominick Kimengich, have raised concerns about corruption and discrimination in Kenya.

During a women's empowerment programme event at Kesses Constituency, Farouk accused senior police officers in Uasin Gishu County of failing to protect residents from persistent animal theft and breaking of houses by criminals. He went as far as to suggest the transfer of corrupt officers involved in extortion and crime, specifically accusing the Officer Commanding Police District (OCPD) and his team of working with criminals. Farouk further accused the OCPD of working with thugs, which he deemed as a very serious issue.

At the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Eldoret during a church service, Bishop Kimengich accused certain leaders, especially politicians, of betraying the people by stealing from the poor instead of improving the economy. He urged leaders to be patriotic enough to solve problems that cause divisions among the peace-loving citizens. Kimengich also called for the President to do away with those still involved in corruption cases.

In a separate incident, Kimengich spoke about a lady who, despite having all education requirements, could not get employment due to her family background or tribe. He said that as people of God, they cannot allow such discrimination to continue in Kenya.

Farouk, alongside Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and other United Democratic Alliance members, has initiated a formative creativity called 'Save Life' with the aim of uniting people, especially women, by voluntarily donating money to ensure good governance without discrimination. However, no new facts related to the fundraising for women's empowerment or the 'Save Life' initiative were mentioned.

Farouk also warned area police officers against arresting innocent people to extort them. He stated that Kenya is rich in resources but some individuals are milking everything, even that contributed by the poor. He claimed that President William Ruto is doing everything possible to overcome corruption, which he claimed is the biggest disease in the country.

Bishop Kimengich encouraged Christians not to elect corrupt leaders in any position or forum in the future. He urged the electorate to make informed decisions based on the leaders' track records and commitment to fighting corruption and promoting fairness.

The topic of discussion was not related to the ongoing issues with Farouk Kibet and the police corruption in Uasin Gishu County. It is clear that both Farouk and Bishop Kimengich are committed to fighting against corruption and discrimination in Kenya and encouraging good governance.
