Police stormed a karaoke bar in Khon Kaen, seizing drugs during a party.
In a shocking turn of events, a karaoke bar in central Khon Kaen was raided early Saturday morning. The establishment, known for its lively atmosphere, found itself at the centre of a police investigation following reports that it permitted tourists to consume a dangerous cocktail of drugs.
The bar's owner, Mr. Somchai, has been identified by the police and issued a summons for questioning. The charges against him include allowing illegal drug use on the premises, selling alcohol to a minor, and other unspecified offenses.
Undercover officers had earlier infiltrated the venue, collected samples, and confirmed the presence of the drug, which was found to be a dangerous concoction of MDMA, methamphetamine, diazepam, and ketamine. This lethal mixture was reportedly mixed with a beverage, known as "Happy Water".
During the raid, 25 patrons, including one male under the age of 20, and several staff members were found. Initial tests showed 23 of these patrons had narcotics in their system. Consequently, they were charged with drug use and possession.
The raid took place at 6am, and neither the manager nor the owner was present during the operation. The operator of the bar, who is not the same person as the owner, faces similar charges. However, no specific information about the minor involved in the alcohol sale charge was provided.
At the time of writing, no information about the outcome of the questioning or further legal actions against the operator has been released. The Khon Kaen police have shared a photo from their Facebook page, depicting the scene of the raid.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drug use and the importance of enforcing laws to protect the public. The police continue to investigate the matter and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
