Porsche's Macan Electric model now offers a less expensive Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant, and introducing the new Macan 4S model as well.

Porsche has taken another significant step in its drive towards an electric future, announcing the official release of their second electric vehicle (EV), the electric Porsche Macan. The new model, which will join the Taycan in Porsche's EV lineup, is now available for order and is expected to hit showrooms in 2021, according to Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board for Research and Development at Porsche.

The electric Porsche Macan will be offered in two variants: an entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) model and a more powerful Macan 4S. The entry-level Macan Electric delivers 355bhp, boasts a 100kWh battery, and promises a range of 398 miles. The Macan 4S, meanwhile, offers a more robust performance, with 442bhp, a range of 376 miles, and an overboost capability of up to 508bhp. The Macan 4S also boasts acceleration from 0-62mph in a swift 4.1 seconds, and charging rates of up to 270kW.

The electric Porsche Macan was initially planned to arrive in 2019, but due to unspecified reasons, its release has been delayed. Despite this, Porsche has maintained its commitment to the project, with the electric Macan now set to enter the market in 2021.

The new electric Macan is not just a performance powerhouse; it's also a statement of Porsche's commitment to sustainability. As the ICE Macan disappears from Europe this month and from the UK in 2025, Porsche is offering a cheaper entry-level model to keep buyers on board. The entry-level Macan Electric is 30% more expensive than the entry-level ICE Macan, priced from £67,200.

In addition to the standard Macan Electric and Macan 4S, Porsche is planning to release a Macan Coupe and a Long Wheelbase (LWB) Macan alongside the electric Macan. Both will be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) jointly developed with Audi, featuring a lithium-ion battery up to 95 kWh and expected to be available from around 2026.

The electric Porsche Macan was spied on video during testing, offering a glimpse into its sleek design and powerful performance. The new model is set to redefine the SUV segment, combining Porsche's legendary performance with the benefits of electric power.

In conclusion, the electric Porsche Macan is a testament to Porsche's commitment to innovation and sustainability. With its impressive performance, extended range, and sleek design, the electric Macan is poised to redefine the SUV segment and take Porsche into a new era of automotive technology.
