Portnoy Wins Big in Barstool's First Live Poker Event

Barstool Sports hosted its first live-streamed poker event last week, featuring a high-stakes heads-up match between founder Dave Portnoy and longtime enthusiast Eric 'Barstool Nate' Nathan. The match, played on September 2, provided several notable hands, including a significant pot won by Portnoy after Nathan made a controversial fold.

In a key hand, Portnoy held pocket queens (Q♣Q♠) while Nathan had pocket tens (10♣10♠). Nathan bet $700 on the flop, and Portnoy raised to $1,700. Nathan called, bringing the pot to $4,400. The river card was the 4♣, and Portnoy bet $1,000. Despite having pocket tens, Nathan folded, leading to a $7,400 pot for Portnoy. Brent Hanks, from the commentary booth, described Nathan's fold as 'the worst thing I've ever witnessed' in poker.

Earlier in the match, Nathan raised pre-flop, and Portnoy called with pocket queens. The flop was A♣5♣3♠, leading to a $2,000 pot. This hand, along with others, showcased the intense competition between the two players.

The high-stakes poker match between Dave Portnoy and Eric 'Barstool Nate' Nathan, hosted by Barstool Sports, concluded with Portnoy winning a significant pot after Nathan's controversial fold. Despite the loss, Nathan's dedication to poker is evident, having sought a match with Portnoy for nearly two decades. This event marked Barstool Sports' first foray into live-streamed poker content.
