Post-terrorist incident, city health authorities arrange a public health discussion
The Health Department in Solingen has announced a new low-threshold conversation offer for individuals affected by the terrorist attack at Fronhof, which took place on Friday, 23rd August. This open and safe space for conversation will be available starting on Wednesday, 11th September, and will continue until Wednesday, 2nd October.
The conversations will take place at the Glass Workshop, located at Hauptstraße 61-63, in the city center. This venue has been chosen as a meeting point for these discussions, as it is associated with the city of Solingen and the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia, both of which have been organising remembrance and support events around the attack anniversary.
The conversations will be held every Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and every Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. These discussions will be moderated and will take place in a protected setting, providing a safe environment for individuals to share their experiences and emotions.
The purpose of these conversations is to allow individuals to describe their own experiences, exchange views, and develop strategies for processing. It is important to note that this conversation offer is not a therapeutic offer, but rather an opportunity for individuals to connect with others who have been affected by the attack.
In addition to this new conversation offer, the city of Solingen has been providing support and conversation offers following the attack. The emergency pastoral care, which was present in the first days after the attack, has been reintegrated into the regular parish pastoral care.
If individuals show signs of severe psychological consequences during the conversation, they will be referred to the regular support system. It is important to remember that seeking help and support is a crucial step towards healing.
The Health Department's new conversation offer is in addition to the previously mentioned offers and is being set up at the heart of the city center at the Glass Workshop. The city of Solingen encourages anyone who has been affected by the attack to take advantage of this opportunity and to seek the support they need during this difficult time.
