Preparations Underway for Grand Ganesh Immersion in Bhopal: Over 4,000 Temporary Structures to Submerge Idols; New Immersion Site at Kaliyasot, Enhanced Security Measures Implemented
Bhopal, India, is gearing up for a smooth and grand farewell to Lord Ganesh this year, thanks to the efforts of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC). The city has seen extensive preparations, with multiple temporary ponds and immersion ghats set up across the city.
The BMC Commissioner, Harendra Narayan, has appointed Additional Commissioners as nodal officers for each immersion ghat, ensuring tight supervision and efficient operations. Each nodal officer will be supported by deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, engineers, and sub-engineers.
To cater to the heavy-load sites such as Hathaikheda, Prempura, and Malikhadi, multiple poclains have been allotted. Additionally, a total of 12 cranes, 16 poclains, and 25 immersion vehicles have been deployed, along with 21 zonal vehicles, at all major immersion sites, including the new Samardha ghat and others.
The new temporary immersion ghat on the banks of the Kaliyasot river at Samardha was established in 2024. Civic officials are expecting a much larger turnout at this ghat this year, as it serves more than 200 colonies along Hoshangabad Road.
Temporary ponds have been developed at strategic locations throughout the city, including Shabban Square, Mata Mandir, 5 Number Talab, Nehru Nagar Square, PNT Square, Bercha Mawa Bhandar, Aashima Mall (front), Kolar, Piplani Petrol Pump, Minal Residency Gate No. 2, Karond Square, and Lalghati Square. Each temporary pond is equipped with two drums to collect offerings.
Some idols were already immersed earlier during the DholGyaras festivities. Traditional immersion points such as Bairagarh, Kamalapati, Khatlapura, Prempura, Shahpura, Hathaikheda, and Malikhadi are fully prepared for the immersion process.
Specific duties have been assigned for each team, including road cleaning, encroachment removal, street lighting, water supply, installation of temporary toilets, site maintenance, and post-immersion waste disposal.
BMC Chairman Kishan Suryavashi expressed confidence that the city will witness a smooth and grand farewell to Lord Ganesh this year due to the expanded facilities, added machinery, and tight supervision. Here's to a joyous and peaceful Visarjan!
