Preview of IAA Mobility 2025 at Munich Auto Show
The IAA Mobility auto show in Munich, 2025, is set to be a spectacle of automotive innovation, with several major manufacturers unveiling their latest electric vehicles (EVs). Here's a sneak peek at some of the anticipated debuts.
Stellantis-backed Chinese brand Leapmotor is expected to make its European debut at the IAA, showcasing the B05 compact hatchback BEV and its compact SUV counterpart, the B10. Leapmotor has already made a presence in Europe with the C10 midsize SUV and urban runabout T03. The B10 will offer an Internal Combustion Engine Range Extender (ICE REEV) model by the end of the year.
Volvo is set to bring the midsize electric SUV, the EX60, to the IAA. Details about the EX60 are scarce, but it's expected to be a significant addition to Volvo's growing EV lineup.
Mercedes-Benz will debut the GLC electric model at the IAA, replacing the EQC. The GLC is expected to come with a 95-kWh battery pack and two motor options. Mercedes-Benz claims a range of 435 miles (700 km) with rear-wheel drive and 403 miles (650 km) with all-wheel drive.
Renault is expected to unveil the sixth generation of the Clio hatchback, featuring a hybrid powertrain. Renault may offer a 48V mild hybrid version with a smaller battery and starter generator to aid with starting and accelerating. The Clio's cabin might host a combination of a fully digital cockpit and the Android Automotive operating system.
Vauxhall/Opel will unveil a concept version of their compact SUV Mokka bearing its performance GSE badge at the IAA. The Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept, on the other hand, claims an overall output of 800 hp (588 kW), 590 lb.-ft. (800 Nm) of torque, a top speed of 198 mph (320 km/h), and a 0-to-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint time in just 2.0 seconds.
Hyundai Motor Group is expected to use the show for the world premiere of the Ioniq 2, drawing on tech from the Kia EV4. A teaser image of an IAA concept, believed to be the new subcompact BEV, has been released.
BMW will debut the new iX3 midsize electric SUV, with dimensions of 15.7 ft. (4.8 m) long and 5,027 lbs. (2,285 kg) in the 50 X-Drive all-wheel-drive format. The iX3 uses an 800V electric powertrain with a maximum charging capacity of 400 kW, allowing a charging time of 10% to 80% in 21 minutes. The iX3 claims 473 hp and a 0-to-62 sprint time of 4.9 seconds, while its large 107-kWh battery pack enables a claimed 497 miles (800 km) of range.
The IAA Mobility 2025 will also see the debut of new models from VW, with the Czech brand Skoda bringing the BEV Vision 0 concept, which is expected to be the replacement for the Octavia fullsize station wagon.
Chinese brands BYD, Denza, XPeng, and Polestar from Geely are also set to present novel hybrid or battery electric vehicles at the IAA. Tesla, however, will not participate.
