Preview of the Comprehensive Guide for the 2025 Bengaluru Ganesh Festival, Edition 63!
The 63rd edition of the Ganesh Utsava, a much-anticipated annual event, is taking place in Bengaluru from August 27 to September 6 at Basavanagudi. This 11-day celebration is described as a cultural pilgrimage, promising a blend of devotion, music, dance, and local flavors.
The festival follows a zero-waste philosophy and avoids the use of plastic, making it an environmentally friendly event. This year, the organizers have gone a step further, ensuring a waste-free experience for all attendees.
The main attraction of the festival is the grand procession and celebrations, which feature a plethora of cultural troupes from across India. Troupes from Jaipur, Punjab, Kolkata, and Odisha, among others, will showcase their unique traditional dances and performances.
In addition to the cultural troupes, the festival will also feature several notable artists. Vijay Prakash, known for composing a special song for the Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava, will perform at the event for the 15th time. Other artists include Crazy Star Ravichandran, Raghu Dixit, Rajesh Krishnan, Vijay Yesudas, MD Pallavi, and Praveen Godkhindi.
There will be special devotional performances by Soorya Gayathri, Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, Lakshmi, Indu Nagaraj, and Sunitha Upadrishta. Ravi Chandran will also share his life and musical journey on stage for the first time.
A highlight of the festival will be a special segment by Vijay Prakash, where a song on Lord Ganesha will be composed on the spot with audience participation.
The festival will also offer a taste of Karnataka's authentic cuisine. Aromas of Karnataka at National College Grounds will feature dishes from every corner of the state and regional rice specialties. Prasadam, including modaks, laddus, kadubu, and various rice dishes, will be distributed to everyone attending the festival.
The festival's curator, Nandish SM, has ensured a diverse range of performances, from dance productions such as Kashi Damaru, bhakti janapada sangeetha, and Gajamukham, to a free two-day workshop conducted by renowned choreographer Tanushree Shankar from Kolkata.
The festival's grand finale on August 31 will see thousands of women chanting Ganesha Pancharatna shlokas together, making for a truly spiritual and memorable experience. The main Ganesha idol, reused each year and never immersed, will be the focal point of these celebrations.
