Prices of goods have increased significantly in the area once more.

In the week of August 19 to 25, 2025, residents of Zabaykalsky Krai witnessed a series of price changes in their local food market.

Food expenses, which previously accounted for a quarter of the budget for many households, saw a mixed bag of trends. Some items experienced price increases, while others saw decreases.

One of the notable increases was in the price of edible salt, which saw a 0.4% rise. Similarly, the price of pork meat (excluding boneless meat) increased by 1.0%. Pasteurized whole milk with 2.5-3.2% fat, ultra-pasteurized whole milk with the same fat content, margarine, and granulated sugar all saw a 0.4% price increase. Sausages, meat conserves for baby food, and hard, semi-hard, and soft cheeses, as well as vegetable conserves for baby food, also experienced a 0.8% price increase. Beef meat (excluding boneless meat) had a 0.3% price increase.

However, there were also several price decreases. Fresh tomatoes saw a significant drop of 1.5%, while bananas, groats, and pasta made from high-quality wheat flour all decreased in price by 1.1%. Fresh cucumbers experienced a price decrease of 2.2%, and onions saw a drop of 3.1%. Fresh white cabbage decreased in price by 1.3%, and vermicelli saw a price decrease of 2.5%.

Fruit and berry conserves for baby food, beets, and dry milk mixes for baby food all had price decreases of 3.0%, 0.8%, and 0.4% respectively. Frozen unprocessed fish saw a price increase of 0.4%, but this was offset by the price decrease of 2.8% for potatoes. Sour cream experienced a price decrease of 0.5%, which was a welcome relief for many households.

It's worth noting that the prices for sausage were increased without replacement in Zabaykalsky Krai in September 2023. Chicken eggs and polished rice also saw a price increase of 0.7%. Cookies, unfortunately, experienced a price increase of 1.5%.

These price changes may have an impact on the food budgets of many households in Zabaykalsky Krai. It is recommended that residents plan their grocery shopping carefully to make the most of the price decreases and minimise the impact of the price increases.
