Primary School at Bültenweg introduces a new addition
Brunswick's Bültenweg Primary School Expands for Full-Day Operation
The city of Brunswick has completed the expansion of Bültenweg primary school, transforming it into a full-day primary school. The new two-story building, compliant with the latest requirements of the Building Energy Act (GEG), was symbolically handed over by Mayor Dr. Thorsten Kornblum on August 28, 20XX.
The ground floor of the new building houses new changing rooms for the adjacent sports hall and rooms for full-day operation, with direct access to the schoolyard. The first floor accommodates a cafeteria that can also be used as an event space, supplemented by after-school care rooms.
The total cost of the project is around 14.7 million euros, with approximately 8.1 million euros allocated for the new building. Forward-thinking technologies and barrier-free access have been incorporated in the new building's design.
The expansion was necessitated by new housing developments in the school district. Care will be provided in cooperation with youth centres 'B 58' and 'Brunsviga'. The organizations supporting the full-day school operation at Vorschule Bültenweg include the Vorschule Bültenweg association, the parents' council, and local community groups.
The previously asphalted schoolyard area will be redesigned and equipped with modern play equipment. The schoolyard renovation includes renewing the storm and rainwater drains. The completion of the schoolyard modernization is scheduled for summer 2026.
The existing school building was previously renovated and restructured. With the expansion, Bültenweg primary school now offers a comprehensive learning environment for its students. The modernization of the schoolyard planned for summer 2026 includes new play equipment, green spaces, and improved outdoor learning areas.
