Prison Term Extends Holiday for 32-year-old Following Conviction by BPOLI MD

On October 3, 2024, at around 2:00 PM, a 32-year-old German man was arrested at Magdeburg Central Station by the Federal Police. The source of the information is the Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg, as reported by news aktuell.

The arrest warrant for the individual was issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Potsdam due to a prior conviction for fraud. This conviction was handed down by the Brandenburg an der Havel Local Court in January 2022, sentencing the individual to a fine of 1,000 euros or 50 days in prison.

Despite paying only 100 euros of the fine, the individual failed to appear for sentencing, despite a proper summons. As a result, the Public Prosecutor's Office issued the arrest warrant in July 2024.

Upon the arrest, the Federal Police took the individual to the station and later handed them over to a detention facility in the afternoon. The Federal Police also informed the issuing authority about the execution of the arrest warrant and the whereabouts of the convicted person.

Despite multiple attempts to contact family and friends, the individual was unable to pay the remaining 900 euros of the fine.
