Promoting the Interest of Children and Youth in STEM Fields
In the heart of Landshut, behind the University of Applied Sciences, lies the Weltacker, a 2,000 square meter space that serves as a platform for food, energy, and clothing production per person. This unique location is one of six partners that have come together to form the "Future Workers - all MINT talents" cluster, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
The MINT cluster, as it's known, aims to further strengthen its cooperation with municipalities, schools, and companies. Other partners of this initiative include Silicon Vilstal, the neighborhood center DOM, the MINT forum Bavaria, the University of Applied Sciences Landshut, and the MINT service center of the city of Landshut.
The common goal of the MINT cluster is to expand extra-curricular MINT educational offers for children and young people aged 10 to 16 from the city and Landshut district. The cluster collaborates with local schools and companies to achieve this, though specific names of the schools and companies involved are not detailed in the available search results.
Dr. Maximilian Müller-Härlin, responsible department head at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, recently spoke about the MINT cluster on the Weltacker in Landshut. He was particularly pleased to see the involvement of many volunteers. Claudia Weindl, education manager from the MINT service center of the city of Landshut, stated that the MINT cluster will offer its events more actively for children and young people in the city and district in the future.
The MINT cluster showcases how various partners can drive the future topic of MINT education. The Weltacker, in particular, aims to cultivate the globally most important crops proportionally to their global cultivation area. This serves as a reminder of the size of the Weltacker, which represents the globally available arable land divided by the world population.
All MINT offers from the region can be booked online at www.zukunftswerker.la. As the MINT cluster continues to grow and evolve, it promises to provide a wealth of opportunities for the young minds of Landshut and the surrounding district.
