Proposal for a directive on safeguarding workers from ionizing radiation risks requested by the Commission

New Leader Takes Charge at Bielefeld Police Headquarters

Martin Huber has assumed the role of Senior Police Director at the Directorate of Threat Prevention/Operations (GE) at the Police Presidium Bielefeld (PP Bielefeld) on August 25, 2025. He succeeds Michael Erdmann, who retired at the end of June 2025.

Huber brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having served in various roles within the police force. Prior to his appointment, he was the head of the special units at PP Bielefeld. Before that, he was the head of the Directorate of Crime and led the Criminal Inspectorate 1.

Huber's career in the police force began in 2011 when he joined the higher service at the police in Lippe. He served as the head of the leadership staff and the traffic directorate until 2014, when he transferred to PP Bielefeld and joined the special units.

As the new head of GE, Huber is committed to ensuring the safety and health of police officers, particularly in regards to violence against them. He also expresses eagerness to contribute to the safety of the people of Bielefeld through his work.

Huber sees a life in safety and freedom as the foundation of a functioning democratic society. He acknowledges the increasing workload of his employees and intends to support them.

The Directorate GE at the PP Bielefeld includes the police inspection with its three police stations, leadership unit, permanent staff, operations and situation center, special units, and riot police. Huber plans to continue and further develop existing cooperations with the city, other authorities, and security partners.
