Wolfgang Kubicki Opposes Economist Marcel Fratzscher's Proposals for Baby Boomers

Wolfgang Kubicki, the deputy of the Free Democratic Party (FDP), has reiterated his opposition to economist Marcel Fratzscher's proposals for the baby boomer generation. In a featured stance on the Welt News Channel on September 7, 2025, Kubicki expressed his disapproval of Fratzscher's proposal for a "boomer tax" and a mandatory social year for retirees.

Kubicki believes that the baby boomer generation, who have significantly contributed to today's prosperity, deserve respect, not new burdens. He maintains that Fratzscher's proposals are neither feasible nor reasonable, and he continues to call for an honest pension reform to stabilise the system.

Instead of new obligations, Kubicki advocates for longer working lives as an alternative. He argues that the baby boomer generation should not be burdened with new responsibilities, but rather be allowed to continue contributing to society in their own way.

Kubicki's pension reform suggestions do not include a "boomer tax" or a mandatory social year for retirees. He continues to oppose Fratzscher's proposals, as he believes that they are not in the best interests of the baby boomer generation or the overall economy.

Fratzscher's proposals have been met with disapproval by many, including Kubicki. The deputy of FDP remains firm in his stance against the proposals, and he continues to advocate for a fair and honest pension reform that respects the contributions of the baby boomer generation.
