Prosecution initiated under Polish law for causing severe physical injury

On August 28, 2025, a violent altercation took place at Kennedyplatz in Gelsenkirchen-Schalke, near the Musiktheater. According to the Gelsenkirchen Police, around 18:30, two groups were involved in a brawl that saw a knife being brandished and the use of pepper spray.

Four men were involved in the brawl: a 20-year-old from Bremen, a 35-year-old from Bremen, a 32-year-old with no fixed address in Germany, and a 49-year-old resident of Gelsenkirchen. The police took statements from each of these individuals.

During the incident, a 35-year-old man from Bremen was lightly injured by a thrown glass bottle and received medical treatment. The Gelsenkirchen Police found suspected narcotics on the 32-year-old with no fixed address.

Investigations into the background and the exact course of events are ongoing. The Gelsenkirchen Police are the authority responsible for the investigation into the brawl at Kennedyplatz.
