PS Vows Continuous Combat Against Demagoguery and Popularism

In the picturesque fishing port of Viana do Castelo, José Luís Carneiro, a prominent socialist leader, delivered a speech on the deck of the Gil Eannes museum ship. The occasion was the presentation of Luis Nobre's candidacy for the Presidency of Viana do Castelo's Chamber.

During his journey on National Road 2 (EN2), Carneiro had the opportunity to speak with local residents and community members. The people he contacted expressed a general improvement in living conditions, but they also highlighted the need for new proposals, ideas, and projects aimed at economic development, social cohesion, and the enhancement of institutions' prestige.

Carneiro emphasized the generosity of the Socialist Party as the fundamental value for building the future of society. The elderly individuals he spoke to shared this sentiment, stating that the core of the Socialist Party is generosity. They had not forgotten the proposals and progress made by the PS over the last 50 years.

The elderly individuals Carneiro spoke to had simple messages and had experienced difficulties in their lives, including fleeing dictatorship, poverty, and inequalities. Carneiro stated that society has changed significantly, and these changes are being influenced by winds from various directions, some of which are allegedly fueled and financed from abroad.

However, Carneiro did not mention any bullying accusations against the PSD in his speech, a separate topic that has been making headlines recently. The socialist leader's focus remained on the need for unity, progress, and the continued generosity of the Socialist Party in shaping the future of Portuguese society.
