'Public toilet proposal in Pasing by senior counsellor, focusing on accessibility for the central area and disabled individuals'
In the heart of Pasing, Munich, a proposal for a public, free toilet has been put forward by senior citizen representative Franziska Miroschnikoff. The district council is set to discuss this proposal in their next meeting on Tuesday, September 16.
Miroschnikoff, an advocate for accessible public amenities, believes that Pasing, which currently lacks any public toilets in its entire city district, should have a free toilet for its residents and visitors. The proposed location for this facility is the WC in the Pasing town hall.
The town hall, located at the corner of Landsberger Straße/Rathausgasse, is a central and barrier-free location, according to Miroschnikoff. The old building in the town hall complex now houses the registry office, the district inspection, the communal traffic monitoring, and the BA business office, following the social service office's relocation.
However, the district council has expressed doubts about the feasibility of the proposal. Budget constraints and the need for a security service outside the town hall's opening hours are the main concerns. The municipal administration, the organization responsible for the realization of the proposal, shares these reservations.
Despite these challenges, BA chairman Frieder Vogelsgesang (CSU) has shown openness to the proposal. Miroschnikoff, in her quest for a solution, suggests that the town hall could serve as a temporary solution for a public toilet in Pasing, while she had initially hoped for a public toilet to be included in the renovation of the Pasing Viktualienmarket, a project that has been indefinitely postponed.
Meanwhile, the Pasing Arcades offer chargeable toilets, accessible only during shopping center opening hours. With no other public toilets available in the area, Miroschnikoff's proposal seeks to address this pressing need. The discussion on this matter will continue in the district council meeting on September 16.
