Mayor Jürgen Kleine-Frauns has marked the start of the new school year in Upper Austria (Oberösterreich) by issuing a message of encouragement to the approximately 10,600 students who will be returning to their classrooms.

On Thursday, 27th August 2025, around 900 new first-grade entrants will begin their educational journey, joining the existing student body of nearly 9,700 students. The return to school is significant, as the mayor emphasised, serving as a place of life, encompassing challenges, difficulties, joy, friendships, and potential achievements.

Mayor Kleine-Frauns expressed a wish for a successful academic year for everyone, as well as a good start for all the new students. He also urged road users to exercise particular attention and caution due to the increased number of young students on the roads during this period.

The mayor appealed to all drivers to drive carefully, anticipate, and stay relaxed, emphasising mutual consideration in road traffic during the start of the new school year. His message underscored the importance of school as a learning environment for life, and he did not express any new wishes for the school year in this statement.

The summer holidays ended on 26th August 2025, and the new academic year for the schoolchildren is 2025/26. No further information about the nature of the message or the students' activities was provided. However, the mayor's statement served as a reminder of the importance of education and the need for road safety during this exciting time for the students and their families.
