"Putin's Aide Forecasts Musk as U.S. President, Anticipates War Between Germany and France"
In a recent development, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has been appointed as a deputy head of Putin's advising defense council. This move, announced on Monday, places Medvedev under the direct supervision of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the administration-controlled sector of the military.
The relationship between Medvedev and Putin, as indicated by Putin's visit and admiration for Medvedev's Telegram blog posts, appears to be strengthening. This is according to political researcher Vladimir Pastukhov, a political science professor at London's College London, who has made this observation on his own Telegram.
Medvedev and Putin have a history that dates back to when Medvedev served as president during a four-year spell while Putin held the office of prime minister. During this time, their relationship remained cordial, with Medvedev even applauding Elon Musk in the past.
However, their relationship has taken on a new dynamic in recent times. Medvedev has taken an arch-hawk stance since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, using apocalyptic and spiritual language to describe the conflict, and referring to Ukrainians as "roaches."
Despite this, Medvedev has also shown admiration for Elon Musk. He praised Musk for suggesting Ukraine deliver territory to Russia in a peace offer. However, Musk has since criticized some of Medvedev's predictions, such as his prediction of a war between Germany and France in 2023, a civil war in the United States that would lead to Musk becoming president, and Britain rejoining the EU which would subsequently collapse.
Putin, too, has shown admiration for Medvedev's Telegram blog posts. This is evident in his visits and acknowledgement of these posts. Interestingly, Putin is not the only high-profile figure who has visited Medvedev's blog. The blog has also attracted at least one visitor, who is undoubtedly an admirer: Putin himself.
Recently, Medvedev made a rare international visit to China, holding talks on diplomacy with President Xi Jinping. This visit further underscores the growing bond between Medvedev and Putin.
As Medvedev takes on his new role, it will be interesting to see how this relationship continues to evolve and what impact it may have on Russian politics and foreign policy.
