Qualifying tips, odds, and predictions for the Italian Grand Prix: Possible profit may be found in opposing McLarens

The Italian Grand Prix, taking place this weekend at the prestigious Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Monza, Italy, promises an exciting qualifying session as Lewis Hamilton faces a five-place grid penalty and several drivers show promising form.

In the second practice session, Lando Norris topped the times, but both McLarens found staying on the track tricky. Hamilton made a mistake late in the session, ruining the lap of Max Verstappen who was close behind. Despite this, Verstappen, who went fastest on four occasions when the McLarens were beaten, looks a value alternative for pole position, with odds of 9-1, according to bet365 and Paddy Power.

Norris has odds of 6-4 to be the fastest qualifier, but neither he nor Oscar Piastri, who also has odds of 6-4, appear to have the same edge over their rivals at Monza that they do at most other tracks.

The usual group of leading drivers could be joined by the Williams pair of Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon in qualifying. Sainz, with odds of 33-1, and Albon, with odds of 66-1, both looked fast at the low-downforce track. Charles Leclerc, who along with Hamilton was fastest in the first session, has odds of 5-1 to be the fastest qualifier.

George Russell has odds of 25-1 to be the fastest qualifier, and the odds for the fastest qualifier barring the mentioned drivers are 150-1, according to bet365. Exclusive new customer sign up offers are available for those interested in placing a bet.

Practice three and qualifying can be watched on Sky Sports F1 at 11.30am and 3pm on Saturday, with the race itself airing on Sunday at 2pm. The Italian Grand Prix promises to be a thrilling event, with a potential shake-up in the qualifying order due to Hamilton's penalty and the strong performances of several drivers.
