Qurate Retail Group appoints new Chief Operating Officer
Qurate Retail Group, the parent company of shopping networks QVC and HSN, is undergoing significant changes in its leadership team as it pushes forward with its turnaround strategy.
In a recent announcement, the company appointed Scott Barnhart as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. Barnhart joins Qurate Retail Group from Cardinal Health, where he served as the president of global medical products and supply chain. In his new role, Barnhart will oversee the transformation management office for Qurate Retail Group's three-year turnaround plan, Project Athens. He will also manage customer service and experience for all U.S. brands, and QVC and HSN's U.S. fulfillment operations. Additionally, Barnhart will lead supply chain, procurement, global business services, corporate real estate, and workplace services for all Qurate brands.
Meanwhile, Soumya Sriraman has been named president of Qurate's streaming unit. Stacy Bowe has taken over as chief merchandising officer for QVC U.S., and William Hunter was promoted to the role of chief transformation officer.
The changes come amidst a challenging period for Qurate Retail Group. The company reported a 16% decrease in revenue in its latest quarter, and was downgraded to B+ at S&P Global Ratings. Analysts cited ongoing supply chain constraints and lower discretionary spending as reasons for the downgrade.
In response to these challenges, Qurate Retail Group launched the position of chief transformation officer and is augmenting its leadership team with new talent to help accelerate Project Athens. David Rawlinson, CEO of Qurate Retail Group, stated, "We are excited to welcome Scott, Soumya, Stacy, and William to our team. Their expertise and leadership will be instrumental in driving the success of Project Athens and positioning Qurate Retail Group for long-term growth."
Jeffrey Davis resigned from his position as CFO of Qurate Retail Group. James Hathaway has been named interim CFO, and the new Chief Financial Officer of Qurate Retail Group will be Tatjana Mitchell, effective September 8, 2025.
While the article does not provide specific details about the e-commerce trends impacting retail, it is clear that Qurate Retail Group is making bold moves to adapt to the changing retail landscape and ensure a successful future.
