Rapid Energy-Boosting Morning Stretches, Faster Than a Cup of Joe, in Just 5 Minutes

In the hustle and bustle of the morning, it can be challenging to find time for a workout. However, incorporating these three simple stretches into your routine can help you feel energised and invigorated in just five minutes.

Fitness magazine recommends dynamic standing yoga sequences that awaken the entire body and gently mobilise the joints. One such sequence is the Low Lunge with Side Stretch. This flow combines mobility and energy enhancement, standing taller, breathing deeper, and moving with more strength and ease.

To perform the Low Lunge with Side Stretch, step your right foot forward into a low lunge, press hips forward, reach your right arm overhead, lean slightly to the left, and hold for 20-30 seconds per side. This stretch hits the hips, quads, and obliques in one go, opening tight hip flexors and lengthening the torso and rib cage. It releases stiffness and floods the body with energy.

Another recommended stretch is the Standing Forward Fold with Shoulder Opener. This stretch floods the body with circulation and gently wakes up the spine. To perform it, stand tall with feet hip-width apart, hinge at the hips and fold forward, clasp hands behind the back, straighten arms as much as possible, and hold for 20-30 seconds while breathing deeply. This stretch releases the lower back and hamstrings, while the shoulder opener drives tension out of the upper body.

Lastly, the "Happy Baby" pose, also known as Ananda Balasana, relaxes the pelvic floor and stretches the lower back and pelvis. This pose is a great addition to your morning routine as it promotes physical and mental release.

These dynamic standing yoga sequences are perfect for those mornings when you need a quick energy boost. They wake up the spine, loosen the core, and improve circulation to the back muscles. By incorporating these stretches into your morning routine, you'll be ready to tackle the day with renewed vigour.
