Rearrangement of Text: Kharge's Alert Signal for the Political Party

The Congress party, a vital pillar of India's democratic landscape, is currently facing a significant challenge in regaining its stature and connecting with the people once again. This follows a 'triple bagel' in the Delhi elections, marking the third successive time the party drew a blank.

The party's president, Mallikarjun Kharge, has delivered a stern message to party leaders, emphasizing accountability and commitment to the party's ideology. In a departure from the party's previous functioning, accountability for office-bearers is now based on poll results.

However, the Congress party needs to act more effectively as a necessary Opposition in a functioning democracy. Improved communication within its ranks is crucial. Directions typically come from the top down, but regional leaders have faced problems communicating to the high command what they are picking up from the grassroots level.

The chasm between the top and state leaders needs to close if the party is to recapture its days of openness to the freedom of expression of views. This is particularly important in a time when the party is experiencing an existential crisis, following the rout in the Delhi elections.

The BJP, on the other hand, has a track record of winning polls by working diligently upwards from the booth level. The Congress party is urged by its president to focus on mobilizing people's support and fighting for people's issues for years to come.

In the past, accountability in the Congress party was not a priority, with the positions of top leaders being impermeable to poll results. However, the party has not properly introspected why it has been facing a big slide after the Lok Sabha polls in 2019, where it nearly doubled its tally and came close to the 100-seat mark.

Notable leaders such as Shashi Tharoor, a leader of stature, struggled to communicate with the party top brass and was only invited to meet Rahul Gandhi after writing an article in praise of the LDF government.

In conclusion, the Congress party has received a wake-up call from its president to work harder to regain its position. The party must address its internal communication issues, foster accountability, and reconnect with the grassroots to regain the trust of the Indian electorate.
