In the past week, several inappropriate incidents have been reported in the cities of Recklinghausen and Gladbeck, with the local authorities urging the public for cooperation in identifying the suspects.
In Recklinghausen, the Police Directorate is actively searching for a 64-year-old male individual in connection with three consecutive incidents, including a severe residential fire on September 9, 2025, at Bromberger Straße, Recklinghausen-Ost. The suspect was initially reported missing but was later found severely injured by firefighters. The suspect is described as overweight, with gray hair and a hunched posture. Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is asked to contact the competent criminal investigation department at 0800/2361 111.
Separately, two teenagers were sexually harassed by two unknown men on a bus in Recklinghausen on Friday evening. The incident occurred after the suspects got off the bus at Gustav-Mahler-Straße and ran towards Johannes-Brahms-Straße. The public is encouraged to follow updates on the police's news platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, in Gladbeck, a woman encountered a suspected exhibitionist in the Wittringer Wald area, near Ringallee, on Saturday evening. The man was reportedly masturbating with his pants down when the woman noticed him. Despite the police search, no suspect could be identified in the Gladbeck incident.
In a separate incident in Haltern am See on Sunday afternoon, a man is being sought by the police for harassing two girls (aged 9 and 10) in Kardinal-von-Gahlen Park. The suspect was wearing gray jogging pants and a gray sweater and was described as approximately 1.80m tall, overweight (estimated around 100 to 120 kg), with longer unkempt dark hair. The police are looking for witnesses in the Haltern am See incident.
The two incidents occurred on separate days and in different locations. The suspects in the Recklinghausen and Gladbeck incidents were described as male, early to mid-20s, approximately 1.60m to 1.70m tall, with black hair (one with long curls, the other with short hair). They were wearing black jogging pants with white stripes. In the back of the bus, the suspects were reported to have masturbated and touched the teenagers' faces.
