In a worrying turn of events, the Cologne police are urgently seeking witnesses to an illegal street racing incident that occurred on Sunday evening on "Old Cologne Street" in the Porz-Grengel district.

At approximately 6:45 PM on August 10, the incident involving at least two motorcycles was reported through several emergency calls. The location of the incident was near the airport entrance gate, with the racing occurring on the busy street itself.

The police have confirmed that the motorcycles involved in the suspected street race were an orange KTM and a BMW S 1000. Approximately 30 motorcyclists were found on a nearby parking lot during the incident, but it is unclear if any of them were the suspected racers.

The police have been conducting regular, unannounced speed checks in the area around Cologne-Bonn Airport, and have been closely monitoring the stretch for some time. In May, the police participated in the statewide "2-Wheelers" action to raise awareness and promote motorcycle safety.

The incident has prompted the Traffic Commission 4 to initiate an investigation into the matter. The police are using an actual crash vehicle and video footage to highlight the dangers of high-speed motorcycle rides, and are urging the public to come forward with any information they may have about the incident.

Several spectators were reportedly filming the race, and the police are appealing to these individuals to come forward with their footage. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the police immediately.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the dangers of illegal street racing. The Cologne police are committed to keeping the roads safe for all users, and are urging motorcyclists to ride responsibly and within the law.
