Reduction in Ryanair's flights from Seville to the Canary Islands and ongoing closure in Jerez, causing significant impact in Andalusia.

In a move to address the rising airport fees by Aena, budget airline Ryanair has announced plans to cut back on flights at several Spanish regional airports. The most affected airports include Santiago de Compostela, Zaragoza, Asturias, Vigo, Jerez, Valladolid, Tenerife North, and Vitoria, with capacity reductions ranging from 2% to 45%.

Notably, flights from Vigo will cease from January 1, 2026, while airports like Jerez and Valladolid have been closed for the entire winter seasons of 2025 and 2024 respectively. Tenerife North and Vitoria have also seen all flights stopped for the upcoming winter season. Meanwhile, Ryanair plans to continue growing at major airports like Madrid and Barcelona.

The airline has also announced that it plans to cancel a million seats in Spain as a result of these cuts. However, the platform does not provide specific details about the impact of these cuts on certain airports in this paragraph.

Elena Martos, a frequent flyer with Ryanair, expressed her concerns about the impact of these cuts on regional airports, stating, "It's disappointing to see the cuts at regional airports, as they often provide affordable travel options for many people."

As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how these cuts will affect travel in Spain and the potential impact on regional airports.
