Regensburg County encourages integration through vocational training programs in the fields of nursing and textiles
In a bid to foster integration and address the pressing need for skilled workers, Regensburg County has launched a comprehensive integration package. This initiative, organised by Education Acquisition Specialist Mahinar Sweid and Economic Developer Roland Weiß, has seen four more migrants visit Fahnen Kössinger GmbH in Schierling and eight migrants explore opportunities at the Senior and Nursing Home, as well as the Blind Institute Hemau.
At Fahnen Kössinger GmbH, Jasmin Wagner, the team leader of embroidery, presented career opportunities in the textile industry to the visiting migrants. The integration package, which includes internships, job dating events, a job fair for foreign auxiliary workers, and 80-cent jobs for asylum seekers without work permits, aims to provide a platform for migrants to gain a foothold in the local job market.
Several companies from different sectors have already benefited from this initiative, concluding contracts with migrants. A total of 27 companies have participated in the package so far.
The Senior and Nursing Home and the Blind Institute Hemau offered information about training in care and support to the eight migrants who visited. The demand for skilled workers in the care sector is particularly high, making these visits an important opportunity for both the companies and the migrants.
Christian Scheuerer, the local manager from the home management, and Davis Fries, the local manager from the department management of the Blind Institute, expressed their enthusiasm about the initiative. They see it as a significant chance to win new employees and contribute to the integration of migrants into the local community.
Such visits help companies to get to know potential employees early on, allowing them to assess their skills and suitability for available positions. County Commissioner Tanja Schweiger highlighted the importance of these measures, emphasising their role in promoting integration and addressing the shortage of skilled workers and trainees in various sectors, including the textile industry.
