Regional authority Castilla-La Mancha implements uniform system for onco-hematological therapies across all hospitals
Castilla-La Mancha Advances Healthcare with Major Investments
The Castilla-La Mancha region is making significant strides in modernizing its healthcare system, with a series of initiatives aimed at improving the quality of care, patient safety, and overall modernization.
One of the key developments is the implementation of a unified system for oncological and haematological treatments in all hospitals across the region. This system, which comes with an investment of 3 million euros, is expected to streamline treatments and ensure consistency in clinical and pharmacological management.
In a related move, the regional government has approved a new contract for the supply of natural gas to 89 hospitals, specialty centers, health centers, clinics, and administrative buildings. This contract, with an investment of over 18.5 million euros for the next two years, will ensure the production of hot water and heating, considered a basic and essential service to maintain proper healthcare conditions.
The Castilla-La Mancha Social Health Foundation is at the forefront of these developments. The Foundation, which currently manages 281 community residential places and 185 places in 33 supervised homes distributed throughout the region, is also investing in residential facilities. Esther Padilla recently announced the contracting of 46 agreed residential places in the Mancha Centro area, with an investment of 2.1 million euros for the next two years. These residential places offer shelter, basic care, psychosocial rehabilitation, and the opportunity to continue sharing life near the community.
To further strengthen the regional healthcare system's assistance and management processes, the Council of Government has authorized the launch of a Framework Agreement for the supply of computer equipment. This agreement, worth close to 31.5 million euros, includes the acquisition of desktop computers, laptops, printing, copying, and digitization devices, as well as videocollaboration systems, multimedia rooms, and specific equipment for graphic design.
The new software being introduced will allow professionals to define therapeutic protocols, validate and prepare medication, administer it, and monitor pharmacotherapy. It will also facilitate the exploitation of health data and results, improving medical decision-making and designing health policies based on real information.
These initiatives are part of the work that the Social Health Foundation of Castilla-La Mancha has been developing in recent years. By being implemented in all the region's hospitals, the software will allow professionals to immediately access patients' clinical history in case of transfer or emergency, ensuring continuity of care and greater safety.
Until now, each hospital worked with a different system, without homogeneity in clinical or pharmacological management. The unified system aims to address this issue, improving the quality of care and ensuring patient safety.
These resources have already attended to over 450 people with severe mental illness during the last year. The approval has also been given to the contracting of another 20 places in nursing homes for people over 55 years of age with mental health problems, with a budget of 500,000 euros.
These initiatives comply with the approved Mental Health Plan and demonstrate the government's commitment to better attention and inclusion for those who need support. The new park, which will address the obsolescence of the existing one, will also be adapted to current demands.
The details regarding the person who oversees and coordinates the introduction of the new software system for oncological and haematological treatments in hospitals in Castilla-La Mancha are not yet available. However, it is clear that these developments mark a significant step forward in modernizing the region's healthcare system.
