Remains of a missing British woman discovered in Greece following a month-long investigation, confirmed her devastated spouse
In a tragic turn of events, Michele Ann Joy Bourda, a 59-year-old British woman, has been confirmed dead by her husband, Mr. Bourda. Ms. Bourda disappeared while swimming at Ofrynio beach in the city of Kavala, Greece, a month ago.
The body was found on a small private island called Fidonisi, approximately 40 kilometers from the coast where she was last seen. Mr. Bourda, who has been married to his wife for 36 years, claims that the body is that of his beloved wife, although it has yet to be formally identified. He states that he is '99% sure'.
The couple met at university in Germany and had shared many happy years together. However, Ms. Bourda had been suffering from episodes of depression and anxiety for a number of years. Mr. Bourda expressed his concerns about the late start of the search by the harbour police, stating that they allegedly took three hours to write up a missing person's report.
Local police conducted a major search for Ms. Bourda after her disappearance, but they were unfortunately unable to find her. Mr. Bourda has expressed dissatisfaction with the harbor police's handling of the search for his wife, and he had previously complained about the police's handling of the case at the prosecution center.
Despite knowing about Ms. Bourda's psychological issues, the police were unable to locate her. Mr. Bourda recounted that his wife was in good spirits the night before she vanished, which makes her disappearance all the more puzzling.
Our thoughts are with Mr. Bourda and his family during this difficult time. The investigation into Ms. Bourda's death is ongoing.
