Renault Corporation and SUEZ enter an alliance to expedite the implementation of circular economy principles within Europe's automobile industry.

Renault Corporation and SUEZ collaborate to accelerate circular economy in Europe's automotive industry.

The Refactory in Flins, a pioneering hub specialising in vehicle refurbishing, part remanufacturing, and industrial robot revamping, has made headlines as Europe's first circular economy base focused on mobility. This groundbreaking facility is now at the heart of an exciting partnership aimed at reshaping the automotive industry.

The Future Is NEUTRAL, a company providing comprehensive circular economy solutions for various automotive sector players, has announced plans to expand and massify their offerings. According to Jean-Philippe Bahuaud, CEO of The Future Is NEUTRAL, this growth roadmap is currently under confirmation.

SUEZ, a leading waste recycling and recovery expert, has partnered with The Future Is NEUTRAL to support the development of new closed resource loops in the automotive sector. This partnership is a significant step in The Future Is NEUTRAL's plan to expand and make their solutions more competitive within the industry.

Renault Group and SUEZ have strengthened their long-term partnership to support the ecological transition in the automotive sector. Renault will contribute its operation covering the entire automotive value chain and vehicle life cycle, its eco-design expertise, and its industrial capabilities at the Refactory in Flins.

This partnership focuses on scaling solutions for recycling aluminum from end-of-life vehicles to increase circularity and reduce the automotive industry's environmental footprint. Novelis Inc., a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group, is the company that partnered with The Future Is NEUTRAL to support this initiative.

The Future Is NEUTRAL's operation in the closed-loop circular economy value chain is already up, running, and profitable. The company aims to prepare for using secondary (recycled) raw materials during design and production, with cars being 85% recyclable but currently made with less than 30% of recycled materials.

Sabrina Soussan, Chairman and CEO of SUEZ, explains that their investment will secure secondary raw material supplies, a key challenge for the automotive sector. The Future Is NEUTRAL is also working on integrating closed-loop battery recycling and scaling up to industrial levels.

Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group, states that the joint investment will allow for an acceleration in providing an open circular economy platform. The goal of the partnership is to work with various players in the sector to lessen their impact on natural resources, stay ahead of regulatory developments, and provide new sources of recycled materials and parts.

The Future Is NEUTRAL targets recovering used parts and recycling materials from end-of-life vehicles, as 11 million vehicles are scrapped every year in Europe. By focusing on extending cars' useful life by reusing, refurbishing, repairing, and remanufacturing as many parts as possible, the company is set to make a significant impact on the industry's circular economy.

This partnership marks a significant step towards a more sustainable future for the automotive industry, with Renault Group, SUEZ, and The Future Is NEUTRAL pooling their technical expertise and industrial capabilities to build the new value chain in the car-to-car circular economy.
