Renowned handball figure takes up position within the Federation leadership - what are his plans?

In a career spanning over two decades, Boris Pukhovskiy, the legendary Belarusian handball player, has announced his retirement at the end of the 2024-2025 season. Pukhovskiy's decision comes after a successful run with the Serbian team, Vojvodina, where he won the Serbian Cup.

Pukhovskiy began his professional handball career with SKA in Minsk, Belarus, before moving to various clubs across Europe. He spent a brief period in Qatar in the spring of 2016 and returned to SKA after leaving Hungarian team "Churgor." His time with SKA was fruitful, as he went on to win the EHF Cup in the following season.

One of Pukhovskiy's most notable achievements came in 2013 when he played for "Churgor." During the EHF Cup final against the Norwegian "Nerbe," he scored seven goals and was named the best player of the match. This impressive performance marked a significant milestone in his career.

In July 2022, Pukhovskiy joined Vojvodina from Novi Sad. His tenure with the team was marked by numerous successes, including the Serbian championship in 2023 and the EHF Cup win. Vojvodina also defeated Partizan (28:26) in the Serbian Cup final, further cementing Pukhovskiy's legacy with the team.

In addition to his on-field achievements, Pukhovskiy has also made significant contributions off the field. He joined the management of the Belarusian Handball Federation and was later elected as Deputy Chairman. In his new role, he will oversee the development of handball in Belarus' regions.

Throughout his career, Pukhovskiy set records for the Belarusian national team, playing in 205 matches and scoring 865 goals. His dedication and skill have left a lasting impact on the sport in Belarus and beyond.

As Pukhovskiy hangs up his gloves, he leaves behind a rich legacy in the world of handball. His retirement marks the end of an era, but his contributions to the sport will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.
