Reports on Monday, August 18th, 2025, from local authorities detail recent incidents
In a series of incidents over the past week, several areas in and around Halle (Saale) have experienced various incidents.
On Monday morning, charging cables of an electric vehicle fast-charging station were stolen in Merseburg, following a similar incident in the Meuschau district on the same day. The total property damage amounted to approximately 1,300 euros. Earlier on the same day, a traffic accident involving a car and a cyclist occurred in Halle-Neustadt's Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Straße area.
On the night of August 17, unknown perpetrators stole 40 fence panels from a construction site in Teutschenthal, causing an estimated damage of around 2,000 euros. In a separate incident, Sangerhausen experienced a theft of several copper rails and zinc from a company site over the past weekend, with the Criminal Police securing traces at the scene.
On August 18, a fire occurred in the southern city area of Halle (Saale), burning an old clothes container. Initial police findings suggest that unknown perpetrators set fire to clothing items near the container. Fortunately, no persons were injured in the fire, and it was extinguished by the city's professional fire brigade.
In a disturbing event, a suspected drunk driver caused a traffic accident in Halle (Saale) city center at around 1:30 AM on August 16. The cyclist was slightly injured and taken to a city hospital. The driver was subjected to a blood alcohol test and their driver's license was confiscated.
In other news, a 36-year-old driver was found to be driving without a valid driver's license in Hettstedt. The driver showed signs of alcohol consumption and refused a voluntary breath test.
It is important to note that as of the latest reports, there is no publicly available information identifying a specific suspect currently under suspicion by the Halle police station for setting fire to the old clothes container in the southern city area.
In a false alarm incident, a burglary alarm at a warehouse in Querfurt was found to be false due to a delayed deactivation of the alarm system.
Lastly, a white van was stolen in Uftrungen overnight on Sunday. The van, which has notable features including a black-painted spot on the left front fender and rust spots on the loading area, was parked in Uftrungen, where a tire of a car was also destroyed.
