Residential and commercial buildings engulfed in basement fire
On a fateful day, August 28, 2025, two separate fires occurred in the city of Bremen. The first incident took place in the Gröpelingen district, where a fire broke out in the building's basement, causing thick smoke to billow out. Fortunately, only one person was lightly injured as a result of the fire.
The fire department, comprising units from fire and rescue stations 1, 5, and the voluntary fire brigade Bremen-Burgdamm, were quick to respond. Breathing protection teams located the fire in the basement and initiated extinguishing measures, managing to bring the fire under control shortly afterwards.

Simultaneously, forces from stations 2 and 3 were dispatched to a kitchen fire in the Neue Vahr. The fire was quickly extinguished by a team with breathing protection. Remarkably, the kitchen fire in the Neue Vahr did not result in any reported injuries. Like the Gröpelingen district fire, the fire department did not provide any updates on the cause of the kitchen fire in the Neue Vahr.
When fire department units arrived at both scenes, the buildings had been evacuated by the residents and neighbours. Three people were treated by the rescue service at the scene in the Gröpelingen district, while one person from the Neue Vahr was taken to a hospital for further examination as a precaution.
It is crucial to note that the fires in the Gröpelingen district and the kitchen fire in the Neue Vahr were separate incidents. The search results do not provide information about the head of the press department of the Bremen Fire Department.
