Residents in Miller's district claim to have heard numerous explosions
In the early hours of August 31, a series of explosions rocked the city of Millerovo, located in the Rostov Oblast region of Russia. The incidents, which reportedly numbered up to five, were first reported by local residents and later confirmed by the Telegram channel "SHOT".
The exact cause of the explosions remains unclear, but reports suggest they may have been the result of a drone attack on a Russian military airfield near Millerovo. This theory is supported by previous drone attacks on military infrastructure in the region, including an incident in the Chertkovsky and Millerovsky districts.
Air defense forces in Rostov Oblast reportedly shot down several drones during the night, although it is unconfirmed whether these drones were involved in the Millerovo explosions.
Remarkably, no casualties have been reported, and no significant aftermath was observed on the ground following the explosions. The Russian authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incidents.
The city of Millerovo, with a population of over 100,000, is an important industrial hub in the Rostov Oblast region. The sudden and unexpected explosions have raised concerns about the security situation in the region and the potential for further escalation.
As investigations continue, the community in Millerovo and the wider Rostov Oblast region awaits more information about the cause of the explosions and the potential implications for their safety and security.
