The Garbsener Sternschnuppen, a group of third and fourth graders from the Saturnring School, have been making a significant impact in their neighborhood, Auf der Horst, since the beginning of the year. This project, which has been running since 2018 and is now in its sixth year, with a COVID-related break, was designed by Oliver Weckel, the director of the Freizeitheim, a part of the city administration.

Every Monday, the Garbsener Sternschnuppen pull a wagon through their neighborhood to collect trash and litter. Their actions, which are voluntary, have been recognized and appreciated by Mayor Claudio Provenzano. The mayor has thanked the Garbsener Sternschnuppen for their efforts in ensuring cleanliness in the neighborhood and has expressed his gratitude towards them.

In recognition of their work, the Garbsener Sternschnuppen have been rewarded with vouchers for the Berenbostel swimming pool. Mayor Provenzano also praised the children for their fun and enthusiasm, noting that their actions are not something to be taken for granted.

The purpose of the Garbsener Sternschnuppen project is to teach children about proper waste handling in a playful way, making them multipliers who remind others not to litter. The project aims to teach children to remind their peers, older siblings, parents, and friends not to litter.

The Garbsener Sternschnuppen's actions have not gone unnoticed, and they will be invited to a joint visit to the Rastiland, funded by the local council, before the summer holidays. This visit is a testament to the impact they have made in their community and the appreciation they have earned from the city administration and the mayor.

Mayor Provenzano believes that the Garbsener Sternschnuppen's actions are a shining example of community spirit and responsibility. He encourages other children to follow their lead and take an active role in keeping their neighborhood clean and litter-free.
