In the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, the Israeli military has targeted and killed the main spokesman of Hamas in Gaza City over the weekend. As of now, Hamas has not commented on the death of their key spokesperson.

The situation in Gaza City has become increasingly precarious, with the International Committee of the Red Cross stating that a mass evacuation of the city would be impossible to do safely. Despite this, Hamas is urging Palestinians to remain defiant and not to leave.

Israel's actions aim to force Palestinians to leave Gaza City, with the promise of food and safety being contingent upon departure. However, if Palestinians choose to stay, they may face a deadly situation due to the dense urban area. Israel's military is positioning troops in two neighborhoods on the outskirts of Gaza City, preparing for an assault on the city.

Israel has also stopped daily 10-hour pauses in fighting in the Gaza City area, which were intended to allow food and aid into the area. This move has further increased the pressure on Palestinians in the city.

The Houthis, backed by Iran, have been launching missiles at Israel throughout the Gaza war. The recent assassination of the Houthi prime minister and other government ministers during a Cabinet meeting is a testament to the escalating tensions in the region.

Israel has declared Gaza City a "dangerous combat zone," and Israeli leaders have stated other goals, such as taking over as much territory in Gaza as possible and finding countries that will take in Palestinians to reduce Gaza's population.

Reports suggest that Israel aims to forcibly displace the population of Gaza by occupying 75% of Gaza and pushing the remaining population from Gaza City to the southern areas. Many Palestinians are expected to emigrate to third countries as part of the operation named “Gideon’s Chariots,” although the specific countries have not been named.

In response to these developments, Israel's Cabinet is expected to meet in a secret location tonight in case of retaliatory strikes. The assault on Gaza City is being presented as the preliminary stages by the Israeli military.

It is crucial to monitor these events closely as they unfold, ensuring that all parties involved prioritise the safety and well-being of civilians in the region.
