Restaurant News from Vegas: NADC Burger Makes its Debut, Resorts World Criticized for Chef Dismissal, CYA EDO Makes Headlines

In an exciting turn of events, a three-month pop-up featuring NADC Burger is set to open at Resorts World in Las Vegas on July 10, 2025. This pop-up marks the beginning of the realization of Phillip Frankland Lee's long-held dream of opening a restaurant in a casino in the city he grew up visiting with his parents.

The pop-up is a collaboration between pro skateboarder Neen Williams, who is also the mastermind behind the spice rub company Initialed NADC, and chef Phillip Frankland Lee of Scratch Restaurants Group. The pop-up will be located in the Sun's Out Buns Out pop-up space next to the Conrad lobby.

The menu at the pop-up will offer a tantalizing array of dishes, including two patties of 100% Wagyu beef, a Wagyu beef cheeseburger, a Vegas-exclusive Breakfast Burger with bacon and a fried egg, and beef tallow fries.

However, the pop-up's arrival comes amidst a backdrop of controversy. In April 2023, Brian Satake, the master cook, was fired by Resorts World. Satake denied responsibility for the action and claimed he was fired for filing multiple complaints about kitchen conditions. The firing was ruled as illegal by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) judge, and Resorts World was ordered to stop unfair labor practices, reinstate Satake to his previous or an equivalent role, and compensate him for lost earnings, benefits, job search expenses, and tax losses from lump sum back pay.

Despite the controversy, the pop-up will proceed as planned. Satake will not be involved in the pop-up, as EDO Tapas & Wine, the restaurant he previously worked at, is being reimagined for the space by chef Oscar Amador. EDO Tapas & Wine, opened in Chinatown in 2018, will serve its final meals in September 2025.
