Restructuring Initiates between Gütersloh and Rheda-Wiedenbrück on September 15
The Regional Division Ostwestfalen-Lippe of Straßen.NRW has announced that a significant repair project on the B61 in Kreis Gütersloh will commence in September. The work will take place in two construction sections, each lasting four weeks.
The first construction section, starting at Gütersloher Straße and ending shortly before the intersection with the city ring Kattenstroth/Kiebitzstraße, will be executed first. From September 15, the B61 between Gütersloher Straße (L568) and Hans-Böckler-Straße will be fully closed for repairs. The pedestrian/cycle path will also be closed and repaired in sections during this time.
Due to the connecting function, the high volume of traffic (approximately 18,000 cars and 1,150 trucks per day), and the resulting impacts, the RNL OWL considered it important to inform about the measure at an early stage.
For traffic from Gütersloh to Rheda-Wiedenbrück, a detour has been planned. This will route traffic via the Gütersloher Straße (L568), Kornstraße (K5), the L791 (Varenseller Straße), further via the Brockstraße (K3) and the city ring Kattenstroth to the intersection Bielefelder Straße/city ring Kattenstroth (end of detour). A construction traffic light will be set up at the intersection Varenseller Straße (L791)/Kornstraße (K5) for the detour traffic.
Residents and businesses can reach their properties via the signposted detours and have been informed about the measure in advance. The signal programs of the existing traffic lights along the construction site will be adjusted accordingly.
The second construction section covers the intersection B61/city ring Kattenstroth/Kiebitzstraße to the Hans-Böckler-Straße. For traffic from Gütersloh in the second construction section, the detour will be from the intersection city ring Kattenstroth/Bielefelder Straße via the city ring Kattenstroth, the city ring Sundern, and the city ring Nordhorn to the intersection with the B61 (Berliner Straße). The detour for traffic from Rheda-Wiedenbrück remains the same as in the first construction section.
The RNL OWL initially informed the companies and residents along the route about the measure in August. The detour will be set up a week in advance due to the scale of the repair work.
At the time of this announcement, the measure was still in the tendering phase, with the construction company not yet finally commissioned, and the construction start date therefore not confirmed. The full closure of the federal road will take place on the early morning of September 15.
The repair work on the B61 will be carried out by the East Westphalia-Lippe regional branch. The RNL OWL encourages all road users to plan their journeys accordingly and to follow the signposted detours to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the construction period.
