New 2026 Jeep Cherokee Unveiled: Hybrid SUV Offers Improved Fuel Efficiency and Off-Road Capability

Jeep has unveiled the much-anticipated 2026 Cherokee, marking the sixth generation of the popular SUV. The new model, which will be built in Toluca, Mexico, is set to hit Canadian dealerships by the end of 2025.

The 2026 Cherokee rides on the STLA platform and comes standard with a hybrid powertrain featuring a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This hybrid setup produces 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque, allowing the SUV to travel up to 800 km on a full tank of gasoline with a combined fuel consumption estimate of 6.4 L/100 km.

Standard features in the 2026 Jeep Cherokee include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and heated front seats. Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, driver drowsiness detection, Active Driving Assist (Level 2 with adaptive cruise control), rear parking assist with automatic rear braking, are all standard safety features in the base model.

The base model of the 2026 Jeep Cherokee in Canada is priced at $42,390, or $42,390 including fees. The Laredo trim costs $47,390, the Limited costs $52,390, and the Overland costs $56,390. Cargo space has grown by 30% compared to the previous generation of the Cherokee, and the SUV slots between the Compass and Grand Cherokee in Jeep's current lineup.

Jeep plans to introduce a more capable off-road variant of the 2026 Cherokee. Optional features include a dual-pane sunroof, hands-free power liftgate, 360-degree camera, digital rearview mirror, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, windshield wiper de-icer, curb-view front camera, turn-signal-activated blind spot monitoring, premium audio system, Alexa Built-In, and more.

The new Jeep Compass is also being introduced, growing in size and adding an electric variant as part of a global rollout. Stellantis, the automobile brand responsible for producing the new 2026 Jeep Cherokee, is pushing a product offensive including this 2026 hybrid Jeep Cherokee launch.

The 2026 Cherokee can tow up to 3,500 pounds, making it a versatile option for those who need to haul trailers or other heavy loads. With its hybrid-only nature, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is expected to deliver strong fuel efficiency and appealing performance.

The 2026 Cherokee features a new vertical grille, U-shaped headlights, and taillights inspired by jerry cans with an X-pattern. The Limited and Overland trims will launch first, followed by the base and Laredo versions in early 2026.

Jeep unveiled the 2026 Cherokee in August at the Conner Center in Detroit, Michigan. The new Cherokee is set to be a significant addition to Jeep's lineup, offering a blend of style, performance, and practicality for Canadian drivers.
