"Revitalized Economy of Bavarian Cult Unveiled - Not Like Munich's Fate"
In the picturesque Bavarian village of Olching, a new culinary gem has emerged, transforming a historical building that dates back to the 19th century. The former Cantina y Bar, located at Hauptstraße 72, has been demolished, making way for a fresh beginning.
The building, originally named "Metzger" in 1860 and later known as "Metzgerwirt", has a rich history. It was rebuilt in 1906, replacing the structure that stood before. The large hall on the first floor, known as the Metzgerwirt, has been a venue for various celebrations over the years, including carnival balls and the founding of the Olching People's Theater in 1926.
The new occupants of this historical space are a pair of entrepreneurs with a passion for gastronomy. While the name of the founder who led them to this location remains a mystery, their experience shines brightly. One of the owners, Valentina Gianniki, brings with her a family legacy in the industry. Her father ran a successful Greek restaurant in Nymphenburg for 28 years.
The new Greek restaurant will offer a focused menu, featuring classic, traditional dishes. Weekly changes will keep the menu fresh, while lunch dishes will be priced under ten euros, making it an affordable treat for locals and visitors alike.
The interior design of the restaurant will reflect warm, earthy tones of white, brown, and beige, creating a modern yet cosy atmosphere. The Metzgerwirt on the first floor will remain unchanged, continuing to serve as a meeting place for the Olching People's Theater.
In a nod to its past life, the mid-1990s saw the old Cantina bar transform into the music bar "Absolut", a popular hangout for young people. Today, it is reinvented as a culinary haven, promising to bring a taste of Greece to the heart of Olching.
As the construction progresses, the village eagerly awaits the opening of this new establishment, eager to savour the flavours of Greece in the historic Metzgerwirt building.
