Rio's Museum of Tomorrow Launches 'Lumisphere Experience' for COP30
The Museum of Tomorrow in Porto Maravilha, Rio de Janeiro, is set to host an inspiring and immersive event, 'The Lumisphere ExperienceTM', from October 2 to December 19, 2025. This free, interactive installation invites visitors to envision their ideal eco-future, coinciding with Brazil's hosting of COP30 and The Earthshot Prize ceremony.
The Lumisphere Experience, a collaboration between the Museum of Tomorrow and Visions2030, aims to mobilize one billion people by 2030. It encourages a positive approach to climate action and imagining a better future. Visitors can create vivid, nine-foot-high images on LED screens using hands-on technology, connecting their visions to real-world solutions.
Spanning 8,000 square feet, the installation consists of three interconnected domes featuring 360° projections, surround sound, and interactive storytelling. Co-designed with Minds Over Matter studio, it has a research partnership with the Institute for the Future (IFTF) to track its impact on empowerment and urgent optimism. The Lumisphere Experience is the first stop on a five-year global tour, starting in Rio de Janeiro.
Fabio Rubio Scarano, curator of the Museum of Tomorrow and holder of the UNESCO Chair for Planetary Wellbeing, is involved in the development of the Lumisphere experience.
The Lumisphere Experience offers a unique opportunity for visitors to engage with climate action in an immersive and empowering way. With its global tour starting in Rio de Janeiro, it seeks to inspire one billion people by 2030, fostering a positive approach to creating a sustainable future.
