Myah Hasbany, a 23-year-old designer based in London's Barbican building, is turning heads in the fashion world with her unique and innovative designs.

Hasbany's career in fashion began during an internship at Maison Margiela, where she started exploring the concept of transcending size in her designs. This approach, which eschews traditional silhouettes in favour of oversized shapes, is a hallmark of Hasbany's work.

Recently, Hasbany created a "booty suit" for R&B icon Erykah Badu for Billboard's annual Women in Music event this year. This isn't the first time Hasbany has worked with Badu; the designer has a history of creating distinctive pieces for the music star.

Hasbany's winning collection at June's BA Fashion show at Central Saint Martins showcased this innovative spirit. The collection, which explores the concept of Queer Time Theory, incorporated references from the 1950s and elements such as the UFO crash in Aurora, Texas, and the balloon boy hoax. The dreamy skirts and jackets in pastels and grayscale, reminiscent of Christian Dior's New Look, added a touch of elegance to the surreal, sculptural designs.

After winning the top prize, Hasbany received an offer to be a junior couture designer at the House of Dior under creative director Jonathan Anderson. The search results do not provide the name of the designer initially hired for the position, but Hasbany ultimately chose to accept the offer.

Hasbany spent seven months working tirelessly to create her handmade pieces for the competition. These efforts paid off, as her designs, which include knit hats resembling mutant bunnies and a giant latex, tulle, and feather piece, were met with great acclaim.

In an interview, Hasbany expressed excitement about the opportunity to learn, meet people, and develop personally during their time at the House of Dior. With her unique vision and dedication to her craft, it's clear that Myah Hasbany is a designer to watch in the fashion industry.
