"Road Blockage on B54 Highway near Ochtrup: Severe Traffic Accident Reported Between Gronau/Heek and Langenhorst at 8:28 PM on August 15, 2025, Causing Obstruction in Both Directions"
On August 15, 2025, a tragic incident occurred on the B54 in Ochtrup. At around 19:51, a serious traffic accident involving a car and a truck took place.
The driver of the car, a 59-year-old woman from Emsdetten, was travelling towards Münster when she veered into oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, the woman was fatally injured in the collision.
The driver of the truck, a 24-year-old man from Wettringen, was also involved in the accident.
In response to the incident, a specialized accident investigation team from the police was immediately dispatched to the scene. An expert was also present to assist with the investigation.
The B54 was closed in both directions between Gronau/Heek and Langenhorst for the investigation and cleanup. The road has since been reopened.
The police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident and are urging anyone with information to contact the Steinfurt Police Press Office at 02551 152200. No cause for the accident has been determined yet.
The police express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the woman who lost her life in this unfortunate incident.
The public is reminded to drive safely and responsibly, especially on busy roads like the B54. The police will continue to work diligently to ensure the safety of all road users.
