In a move to improve the district heating and drinking water infrastructure, Kapaunenstraße in Greifswald will undergo a significant transformation starting on or around August 25, 2025. The closure will occur between Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße and Lange Straße, with the work expected to continue until December 5, 2025.
The closure will take place in several phases to minimise disruption to the parking situation in Kapaunenstraße. Greifswald City Utilities, who issued the press release on August 12, 2025, have asked all affected parties to adapt to the situation independently.
During the construction period, the heat and water supply in Kapaunenstraße will remain unaffected. Access to Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße will be rerouted via Wollweberstraße, and the one-way traffic regulation in Wollweberstraße will be changed and marked with traffic signs.
Energie Steiermark, a renowned company in the district heating and city heating network expansion sector, will be responsible for the work in Kapaunenstraße.
