In the heart of Greifswald, extensive construction work is set to take place in Kapaunenstraße, between Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße and Lange Straße, as part of the development of the district heating and water supply network. E.ON, the responsible party for the planning and execution of these measures, has announced that the construction is expected to continue until November 14, 2025.

During this period, Kapaunenstraße will be fully closed in sections throughout the entire construction period. To minimise disruption, the construction work will be carried out in several phases. This approach aims to avoid further straining the parking situation for local residents, as the construction site will be a moving one.

The changes in traffic management in Wollweberstraße and Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße (dead end) will remain in effect for the entire construction period. Traffic coming from the station will be redirected via Wollweberstraße to Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße. For those coming from Hansering, the route will be slightly altered, as Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße will only be accessible up to Rotgerberstraße at the start of construction, from August 25 to September 22, 2025, due to an additional necessary closure in Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße.

The one-way street in Wollweberstraße will be "reversed" and extended in Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße up to Kapaunenstraße. This detour will lead to a new route to reach the station via Hansering - Goethestraße - Bahnhofstraße - Zentrum.

For public transport users, there will be some changes. Line 2 will not serve the "Campus Loefflerstraße" and "Tierpark" stops. Instead, it will run via the "Rathaus" stop from 06:00 to 22:00. Before and after these hours, the line will run via Goethestraße. Line 3 will not serve the "Campus Loefflerstraße" and "Tierpark" stops before 06:00 and after 22:00. From ZOB in the direction of Campus Loefflerstraße, lines 2 and 3 will be redirected via Wollweberstraße into Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße.

Heat and water supply in the Kapaunenstraße will remain unaffected during the works. However, passengers are asked to plan for delays. Further information is available at the Mobility Center at ZOB or by phone at 03834 532424.

After the completion of the construction work in Friedrich-Loeffler-Straße, it can be used up to Kapaunenstraße, providing an extended route for traffic and public transport. Although these changes may cause some inconvenience, they are essential for the further expansion of the district heating and water supply network in Greifswald.
