Road mishap resulting in six injuries, three vehicles sustaining damages
Yesterday afternoon, a significant traffic accident occurred in Westend, involving three vehicles: a Hyundai, a BMW, and a Renault.
The accident resulted in injuries to six individuals. The Hyundai was driven by an 85-year-old driver, who was airlifted to a hospital with upper body injuries. The passenger in the Hyundai, a 78-year-old individual, was transported with head injuries.
The BMW was driven by a 20-year-old woman. She, along with her 17-year-old passenger, were also injured in the accident. The Renault was occupied by a 33-year-old driver and a 32-year-old pregnant passenger. The driver suffered fractures in one hand and one leg, while the pregnant passenger was hospitalized.
In a commendable act, an employee from the Central Object Protection unit of the Berlin Police extinguished the fires that erupted in the engines of the BMW and Renault after the accident. The employee also provided first aid to those involved.
The accident site was closed from 5:45 PM to 11:50 PM, affecting Heerstraße between Theodor-Heuss-Platz and Jafféstraße. Further investigations into the accident were taken over by a specialized traffic crime unit of Police Directorate 2 (West).
Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident. We hope for a speedy recovery for all those injured. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
